There are several conditions in newborns that might make parents worry, ranging from the shape of the head that does not look perfectly round, to the color of the skin that looks yellowish. However, these conditions actually occur naturally.

Little need to face various processes when born, then adjust to the environment after birth. These things might make his physical condition seem worrying. Even so, Mother and Father need not worry too much, because some of the following conditions occur naturally in newborns.

5 These Conditions Naturally Occur in Newborns

Recognize Common Conditions in Newborns

To find out what are the conditions that usually occur in newborns, let’s check the information below.

1. Strange head shape

When new born, the shape of your baby’s head may look asymmetrical. His head can appear stretched or flat on one side. However, Mother and Father need not worry because the shape of the head is normal. Generally, this happens due to the birth process through the vagina, especially if he was born using vacuum assistance.

However, there are certain rare cases where strange head shapes can be a sign that a baby has craniosinostosis. This is an abnormal condition that affects the development of the skull of the fetus or newborn.

2. Skin rashes on the baby

The skin condition of newborns is still vulnerable to everything, from temperature, weather, clothing, to soap. This makes it easy for babies to experience skin rashes.

Even so, most baby skin rashes are harmless and can heal on their own. Examples of skin rashes that are often experienced by infants are prickly heat and diaper rash.

3. Urine is pink

The color of newborn urine can be very concentrated, because it contains uric acid crystals that make urine pink. This usually occurs for three days after he is born and will disappear by itself.

But if after that time the urine is still pink or makes it look in pain, Mother and Father are recommended to take your child to the doctor so that it can be examined and treated.

4. Often spit up

Newborns naturally experience spit up. This usually occurs after drinking breast milk or formula milk. Spit up occurs because the muscular ring that is between the esophagus and stomach cannot close completely, so the incoming fluid can go up again to the esophagus and then out through the mouth.

Therefore, it is recommended to carry him upright after feeding. Do this for 30 minutes until the milk comes down completely, while rubbing or gently patting his back, so he can burp more easily.

5. The skin looks yellow

Newborns appear yellow, or often called yellow babies, are common. This condition occurs because the baby has high bilirubin levels, because the baby’s liver is not yet mature enough to process and properly dispose of bilirubin.

This condition can cause the baby’s skin and eyes to turn yellow. However, Mother and Father need not worry, because in most cases, jaundice in babies can go away on its own after 2-3 weeks.

However, beware if yellow babies occur within the first 24 hours after birth, or if yellow babies appear limp, rarely or don’t cry at all, don’t drink, and have a fever. Immediately take it to the doctor so that it can be examined and treated if necessary.

The five conditions above are common in newborns. However, if the condition does not improve soon or is accompanied by other more severe symptoms, do not hesitate to consult with a pediatrician to ascertain the cause.
